Eagles avenge loss, send message to Tigers

During the pre-season, Zionsville head tennis coach Matt Moore said the regular season match against Lebanon was circled on many of the Eagles' calendars after the Tigers topped Zionsville in last year's sectional. Saturday Aug. 31, when the two teams met, the Eagles showed how much the match mattered. Zionsville topped Lebanon 4-1. "This was a terrific road victory for our players," Zionsville head coach Matt Moore said. "We knew that Lebanon has the ability to mentally breakdown their opponents with a variety of tactics. Our players showed maturity and a clear focus on the courts. We allowed our racquets to control the matches and reminded Lebanon that we are the best team in Boone County. While this was a great victory, we must improve upon our performance when we face them in sectional play. I know all of our players would agree we played from perfect matches." For the most part, Lebanon head coach Brad Mustin was pleased with what he saw from his players. "Everyone on our team competed well," Mustin said. "Of course we wanted to win, but we really wanted to see what Zionsville had this year. We hope to see them again in the sectional and it was nice to see them in the regular season." Last season, Zionsville topped Lebanon 4-1 in the regular season, only to see the Tigers bounce back in the sectional and defeat them by the same score.
