The capital of the country is having a high demand for emergency medical services. UCI occupancy exceeds 98%.

‘Only vital situations’. That is the anguished call that the Secretary of Health of Bogotá makes to citizens who come to the emergency services for illnesses that do not endanger life.

The message arises due to the situation that occurs in the capital of the country, where there is a high occupancy of the network of public and private hospitals, in part, due to the large number of people who are consulting, both emergency services, like intensive care.

This Sunday, Bogotá registered, in just 24 hours, 8,450 of the 24,050 new infections of covid-19, which are in the report presented by the Ministry of Health.

"The District Secretary of Health calls for attention to citizens so that the main reasons for consulting or visiting these places are only vital situations," he emphasized.

In accordance with the provisions of the Secretariat, it is absolutely essential that people who go to the emergency medical service maintain the strictest biosafety and self-care protocols: "use of masks, physical distancing and keeping adequate ventilation."

Consequently, there is congestion in the emergency services and hospitalization, as in the ICUs.

"Citizens are asked to avoid consulting emergency services, if vital situations do not arise and, in case of requiring medical attention, make use of the attention lines provided by the EPS to request medical attention by teleconsultation or at home," he emphasized. the Ministry of Health.

The best thing for people is self-care, so that there is no risk of contagion. Therefore, the entity recommended “avoiding crowds as much as possible, and if a situation arises that requires travel to the emergency services, always maintain biosecurity measures with the permanent use of a mask, physical distancing and staying in places that guarantee adequate ventilation, in order to avoid possible contagion ”.

During this Sunday, of 539 deaths in the country, due to covid-19, 128 occurred in Bogotá.
