Francisco Santos verbally informed of his departure from the Embassy in the United States

For now, the former vice president will remain in his role as diplomat until President Iván Duque confirms his departure.

A few weeks ago, it was learned that with the entry of Vice President Marta Lucia Ramirez into the Foreign Ministry, changes would come on issues related to the diplomatic corps.

On Monday morning, The current Ambassador of Colombia to the United States, Francisco Santos Calderon, confirmed to President Ivan Duque, verbally, that he will leave his post in Washington D.C., during the next few days.

As RCN learned, the resignation, although it has already been notified, Santos Calderón will not leave immediately, because at the request of President Iván Duque, it will be effective until a few days from now; once the current ambassador returns to Colombia.

The move comes days after other changes in Colombia's diplomacy, the most recent for example, was that of journalist and writer Mauricio Vargas who was named as Viviane Morales' replacement at the Embassy in Paris.
